The Team/The Business : S&P Global Platts is a division of S&P Global, a leading independent provider of ratings, benchmarks, data and analytics to the global capital and commodity markets. Platts provides transparency to global commodity and energy markets via the following offerings:
Market-leading price assessments and benchmarks: Platts publishes over 15,500 price assessments daily on commodities (e.g., Oil, LNG, Petrochemicals). Many of these assessments are used to underpin financial derivative contracts traded on exchanges
Analytics: AI capabilities for data linking, aggregation, extrapolation via Kensho
Leverage various data sets, including real-time news, pricing, satellite data, weather information, well monitoring, ship tracking, customs data to produce analytics on commodity supply and demand flows
The Impact : S&P Global Platts is a critical stakeholder in the global Energy Transition and offers price assessments, data, news, and insights including:
Carbon and Hydrogen price assessments
Future Energy Outlooks - analytics and research covering energy projections with a focus on medium and longer-term outlooks for balances, prices, and emissions
Global Integrated Energy Model - data modelling tool for energy supply and demand outlooks; data spans 143 countries, 10 end-use sectors, and 30 commodities from 1990 to 2050
Hydrogen production assets database - insights into hydrogen production methods and costs of production
Dedicated news, insights and thought leadership for the Energy Transition covering all regions, sectors, and commodities
Strategy & Operations
Internal platforms (e.g., CCP, PRP, Phoenix) - Leads decision-marking regarding continual development and improvement of existing internal platforms; leads technology design and application to current and future business problems
Data strategy - Develops a modular data strategy that ensures alignment with the overall organization goals, vision, and business strategy
Data governance - Develops a data governance framework to ensure framework and standards are in place, improve trustworthiness and quality of data, to drive business, compliance, and ethics. Ensures that contractual rights are in place to source and utilize data as intended, and that data usage complies with such rights
Data quality - Enables data usability, availability, and efficiency while advancing data and analytics maturity, uses, and commercialization
Data ingestion, linking and cataloguing - Connects data applications where appropriate to develop a harmonized data pipeline to supports the business needs and enable fast searches
Data science workbench - Capitalizes on processes and technology to extract business insights from data; establishes methodologies to develop actionable insights for the business
Model governance and modelling - Identifies standardized ways to control models and develops as needed
Process automation - Identifies opportunities for automation to increase data efficiency and accuracy
Creates a data culture - Establishes mindsets, ways of thinking, and ingrained practices around data to create a culture that understands data uses, commercialization, and ethics; advances data and analytics maturity
Helps set and drive the new culture
Drives collaborative working within function and across functions to ensure growth and success
Collaborates with heads of BLs and Chief Technology Officer to identify platform and data dependencies for sourcing/scraping, ingesting, consolidating, storing, and provisioning product-related data to the BLs, and for rationalizing internal facing platforms and applications to reduce tech debt.
What We're Looking For:
Track record with driving data strategy and data management in a complex IT environment to identify new business opportunities
Track record in driving automation-driven transformation to enhance scalability and efficiencies
Expertise in opensource, cloud, distributed computing, data lakes, data analytics environments, information flows, technology controls
Proven leader with effective relationship-building skills, cross-collaboration skills, conflict resolution and negotiation skills
Strong understanding of Scrum and Agile practices, Snowflake, Azure, and statistical programming languages, as well as machine learning frameworks like TensorFlow and PyTorch
Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree preferred (in Data Science, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Statistics, or Analytics) or equivalent experience

Compensation/Benefits Information (US Applicants Only):
S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $240,200 - $499,000. Base salary ranges may vary by geographic location.
In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for an annual incentive bonus/a sales commission plan.
