The Life Sciences Institute (LSI) is looking for an energized, team-player to join our facilities team that provides high-level facilities support for Mary Sue Coleman Hall. Facilities support includes, not limited to, daily building walk-throughs to identify and assess building issues, respond to building occupant inquiries and complaints, initiate work request and follow-through promptly. Perform and support facility activities that are physical and require lifting, squatting, climbing. You will become a member of the LSI operations team and will report directly to the Building Manager.
Identify, report and follow-up on facility related issues, including initiating work request for building problems and responding to inquiries and complaints regarding services performed in the building.
Answer and respond to facility related issues within ticketing system.
Support the planning, preparation and physical staging for events including scheduling rooms.
Support research activities including checks of cold rooms, and film processors to ensure they are working and maintained, replenish laboratory paper towel and soap.
Help with moves of lab equipment and lab changes, such as installation/removal of compressed gas cylinder restraints.
Help with the proper handling of incoming/outgoing packages and mail.
Help with the LSI Research Services Program which includes biohazardous waste and glass wash services.
Support U-M asset tagging system to track equipment within building.
Move and arrange office furniture.
Support CCure and Locknetic card reader systems.
Participate in recycling efforts and education with building occupants
Monitor and order office and facilities supplies.
Partner and build collaborative relationships with UM departments such as maintenance, grounds, custodial, movers, environmental health safety and security.
High School diploma or equivalent.
Customer service motivated with excellent interpersonal and listening skills along with a pleasant positive demeanor.
Dependable and flexible in working conditions.
Organized and communicative with supervisor, other team members and customers.
Experience with Google applications (email, calendar) and Microsoft products (Word, Excel).
Physically: Lift at least 30 pounds, stand/walk 80% of a workday, climb ladders, push/pull 50+ pounds of material on a cart, ability to work in different types of space including crawling or laying on the floor.
Minimum of 1 year of facilities support experience in a research environment
Minimum of 1 year of experience in shipping activities and knowledge of documents necessary for domestic and international shipments
Minimum of 1 year of experience working in shipping/receiving dock environment
Minimum of 1 year of experience with Google applications, Microsoft products, ticketing and inventory systems.
Minimum of 1 year experience with manual/power equipment such as hand tools, drill, pallet jack.
