Research Technician
Radio-tracks wild turkey hens at remote locations in southern Ohio. Collects data on movements, behavior, mortality, nest success, and habitat use; measuresenvironmental conditions, vegetation characteristics, or performs visual and auditory bird population surveys as needed; plans and executes periodic (2-3days) downloads of activity and location data from GSM transmitters attached to radio-marked hens from the ground and fixed or rotary wing aircraft;interprets sign at carcass recovery and nest sites to determine fate (live/dead, hatched/unhatched turkeys and nest); maintains and repairs field equipment.Develops daily work schedule prioritizing activities based on project needs and generally works independently with limited supervision.
