The Performing Arts Production Manager works with both novices and experts to create a welcoming environment for performance and technology research, teaching, and learning, managing activities of interdisciplinary production arts for the Advanced Computing Center for the Arts and Design (ACCAD) and its spaces, including the ACCAD Motion Lab, ACCAD Sonic Arts Lab and the Department of Dance.
In ACCAD, the Performing Arts Production Manager provides technical direction for, and oversees, the digital performance aspects of the Motion Lab and all courses taught in the lab by faculty from Department of Dance, the Department of Theatre, Film and Media Arts (TFMA), and the School of Music; engages with interactive media including: lighting technology, multichannel sound, projected media, and interactive performance software (Isadora or Max/MSP/Jitter); coordinates with ACCAD Motion Capture and Virtual Reality projects and research staff; coordinates projects and classes in the Sonic Arts Lab, and collaborates with faculty and research staff working in the Motion Lab and in the Sonic Arts Lab; coordinates with Department of Dance, the Department of TFMA and the School of Musics production staff on the use of digital technologies in all productions at ACCADs Motion Lab; supervises the scheduling and execution of events for Motion Lab and the Sonic Arts Lab; partners with the ACCAD faculty sound engineer for coordinating tech support, including demos, performances, and the use of the labs by students for projects; serves as primary production manager for productions and special events in the Motion Lab by faculty, students and guest artists; and supports facility needs and research demands in interdisciplinary production arts.
In the Department of Dance, the Performing Arts Production Manager provides facilities and installation support in the department and its performance spaces and supports Department of Dance faculty courses in interactive technology (including but not limited to Isadora) scheduled in the ACCAD Motion Lab.

Specific Duties within the Motion Lab and Sonic Arts Lab.
Mentors and supports technical realization of student research at all levels of study (including distinction projects, MFA and PhD)
Collaborates with faculty and staff on short term and long-term research projects, contribute to funding proposals.
Continuously adds to personal professional development, building expertise and knowledge of emerging trends in technologies and processes for mediated performance.
Coordinates with ACCAD director on lab purchase planning and budgeting, identifies purchasing needs, ordering, implementation.
Coordinates with ACCAD Systems Manager to conduct periodic upgrades to Motion Lab hardware and software including matrix switcher, lighting instruments, soundboard and speakers.
Collaborates with ACCAD director and staff to identify new priorities for future investment (currently ambisonic, virtual production research and development).
Contributes expertise (light, sound, interactive media design) to the Motion Lab and Sonic Arts Lab and partners with faculty sound engineer for coordinating tech support residencies working closely with faculty and staff to support professional artistic research in performance and technology.
Sets up and support audio projects in the Sonic Lab and AV needs in classes and conference rooms in ACCAD.
Assists faculty and research staff working in the Motion Lab and in the Sonic Arts Lab, providing technology support and coordination between projects in the labs.
Provides facilities and installation support in the labs at ACCADs performance spaces (modular walls, hanging green screen, scrims and speakers and projectors etc.)
Oversee documentation of special events, courses, and research in the Motion Lab for archives, web, and social media with ACCAD GAs.
Assists and co-teach courses in the Motion Lab led by faculty.
Provides technology workshops, where desired, in interactive media for performance or other advanced technology theater production skills.
Oversees and manage equipment check out system for cameras, tablets, intermedia technology devices housed in the Motion Lab storage closet.
Provides installation support in Dance (modular walls, hanging green screen, scrims and speakers and projectors etc.)
Teaches workshops within courses for the Department of Dance in interactive technology (including but not limited to Isadora) and workshops within Dance Production courses.
Qualifications:
Required: Bachelors degree in dance, theatre or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience required. Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in stage management, lightning design and/or technical direction. Experience coordinating Dance or Theatre production involving digital technologies, multimedia equipment. Experience in digital systems, mediated performance software and hardware, LED lighting systems, and digital sound.
Desired: Master's degree in dance, theatre, or related field. Experience supervising staff and mentoring students. Experience teaching production skills for undergraduate and graduate students or apprentice programs desired. Experience in professional theatrical and/or dance production.
The pay range for this job profile is $53,800.00 - $71,700.00. The offer for this position will fall within this range based on internal equity, the unit's available budget, and the candidate's qualifications.
