The successful applicant will be a nationally recognized expert, distinguished leader and scholar that understands the vision and works to advance the mission of the King Ranch® Institute for Ranch Management (KRIRM). The person hired will hold the rank of Professor if he/she possesses the appropriate credentials. The successful candidate will be the Executive Director of the King Ranch® Institute for Ranch Management and will hold the Robert J. Kleberg, Jr., and Helen C. Kleberg Endowed Chair.
Lead KRIRM faculty, staff, and students in the fulfilment of the mission of the institute
Serve on the KRIRM Management Council of external industry advisors
Oversee Masters of Science in Ranch Management (RAMT) curriculum, serve on RAMT graduate student committees, and engage in student mentoring and case study project guidance
Recruit and retention graduate students for RAMT program, and collaborative support towards other graduate student programs for faculty with RAMT research appointments
Expand a national network of land managers who will be able to participate as part of the case studies that will be used as part of the ranch management graduate students
Lead outreach and fundraising efforts of the institute and encourage grantsmanship among institute faculty
Education & Experience – PhD from an accredited institution or university and 6 years of related work experience; or MBA from an accredited institution or university and 8 years of related work experience. Graduate degree should be in Range Science, Animal Science, Agricultural Business, Business Management or other appropriate discipline.
Attained rank of professor and work experience dealing with land management decisions
Skills and ability to teach students to integrate wildlife, range, livestock and business disciplines in a systems approach to ranch management Experience in the management of a complex, financially successful ranching enterprise
Evidence of exceptional communication, leadership, and mentorship skills Academic experience, abilities and reputation commensurate with an endowed chair
Demonstrated ability to understand and lead the teaching of a systems approach to ranch management
Proven success in fundraising and grantsmanship
Exhibited ability to effectively work with university employees and ranching industry stakeholders
18 hours of graduate coursework in any field in which the applicant will teach

The King Ranch® Institute for Ranch Management was created and endowed in 2003 by King Ranch family and friends in collaboration with Texas A&M University-Kingsville. Our program was created to educate the next generation of ranch managers, and we remain the premier Master of Science in Ranch Management program in the world. The King Ranch® Institute for Ranch Management teaches graduate students using a multi-disciplinary, systems approach to ranch management. We also provide the highest quality lectureships and symposia to stakeholders in the ranching industry. We serve the ranching industry by empowering graduate students and outreach attendees with skills that will enable them to strategically manage complex ranching operations and successfully lead our industry.
