Great Lakes Energy is looking for a Technical Services Supervisor to lead and develop staff while overseeing our Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) systems in support of electric distribution system reliability and consistency.
Who We Are
For over 85 years, we have powered rural communities across 26 counties in western and northern Michigan. We serve over 128,000 meters as the third-largest Michigan-based electric utility and the state's largest member-owned power company.
We prioritize enriching the lives of our community members. We not only provide electric service, but we also provide reliable and robust fiber technology through Truestream, a communication solutions subsidiary of Great Lakes Energy.
We have over 300 employees who are more than just colleagues - we're a close-knit family of diverse professionals united by a shared vision. Our collaborative environment encourages creativity, empowers growth, and fosters a sense of purpose in everything we do.
A Day in The Life of a Technical Services Supervisor
Your day is a mix of data, collaboration, and support. You're diving deep into AMI/MDM data, crafting processes that keep the organization's gears turning smoothly. You're the bridge between departments, making sure our fiber networks and SCADA technologies are in sync, reducing costs and boosting reliability.
It's not all about the behind-the-scenes stuff. Your team is also tackling power quality issues and getting to the bottom of any complaints about radio interference. They're the troubleshooters, making sure everything runs like a well-oiled machine.
You're also forward thinking. You're researching, recommending, and even coordinating the implementation of new systems that will take us to the next level. And when the engineering and operations folks need a tech-savvy superhero, you're right there to provide support and help steer the ship.
Who You Are
You're the kind of person who thrives in a fast-paced environment and finds it a breeze to tackle tricky technical challenges. You're not just a supervisor, you're a mentor who loves helping your team shine their brightest. Being a problem-solver and strategic thinker gets you pumped, especially when it means making a real impact on your team and the organization.
You've got some impressive credentials too. A bachelor's degree in electrical engineering and at least three years of related experience? Significant experience leading and developing teams? This is the kind of stuff that makes you stand out. But hey, if you've got equivalent experience or education, we'd love to hear about that too.
Here's where it gets super cool - if you have worked with Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) controls, geographic information system (GIS) applications, and supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA), you're speaking our language. And even better, if you're familiar with Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC) rules and regulations, we're seriously impressed.
