JOB SUMMARY
Under general supervision of the Night Operations Foreman, conduct inspection of building and departmental equipment, respond to emergency equipment failure, power outages, building flooding, natural disasters and emergency operation.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Work in restricted areas around large noisy equipment, climb ladders or stairs to top of machinery, crawl, stoop, bend, and work inside drums and tanks and in hot, tight, cramped conditions.
Lift tools and equipment weighing 50 lbs. or heavier.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position is subject to Medical Surveillance procedures and review in accordance with Federal and State Laws and Regulations and University policy.
This position is subject to completion of a pre-placement medical exam provided by Employee Health Services, at no charge to the applicant.
At times, may work with or be in areas where hazardous materials and/or infectious diseases are present. Specific hazards include but are not limited to: asbestos, PCB's radioactive materials, industrial and laboratory chemicals, fuels and solvents, infectious materials and wastes, biological hazards and other materials labeled hazardous.
Must possess and maintain a valid California Driver License.
Position will participate in the DMV Pull Notice System.
This position may be required to work a non-standard work schedule that may include nights, weekends, or alternative schedules such as 80 hours in 8 or 9 shifts instead of 10.
Vacation usage by the employee may be restricted during peak workload periods as required to meet the needs of the campus.
Work occasional overtime and non-scheduled hours demanded by critical scheduling and campus emergencies.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA)
Proficiency in the use common trade hand and power tools for mechanical and structural repairs.
Skills in the use of test equipment including voltmeter, gas-trac, thermometer, and Smart II tool.
Preferred:
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA)
Skill to review and understand technical data and mechanical and structural specifications and blueprints schematics, diagrams and craft terminology.
Knowledge of approved safety devices and practices.
Interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.

Skills to operate a personal computer.
Skill to evaluate possible system downtime and provide resolutions.
