Sasya is a Minneapolis-based biotechnology company that delivers environmentally-responsible solutions for the continued production of chemicals by displacing petroleum and oil-derivatives.
We are looking to immediately expand our technical team to include a dedicated, hardworking fermentation scientist with specific skills in growing and culturing of microorganisms and evaluating their response in a quantitative manner. The successful candidate will be also be involved in design and implementation of strategies for improving strains for producing microbial products using fermentation.
Key responsibilities include
Quantifying the response of genetically altered microorganisms under controlled growth conditions
Performing fermentations at bench-scale (1mL, 500 mL and 15 L scale) to evaluate key performance metrics
Develop and execute plans for process optimization
Provide feedback to strain development team for strain improvement
Having a flexible schedule to work night shifts and/or weekends, as needed, is expected.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of quantitative microbial physiology and proven experience with microbial fermentations. Additional, highly desirable, skills include data analysis, hypotheses generation and troubleshooting. The job requires extensive collaboration for ideation and independent execution of the design and work in a fast-paced work environment and meticulous record keeping.
Prior experience in this area is necessary to be considered. Candidates with a Masters degree in relevant field and at least 1 year experience in the industry will be given a preference.
