Curriculum will meet the emotional, physical, cognitive, and social needs of the individual student and the class. Administrative support provided.
Coursework includes:
6th Grade, Earth Science curriculum, builds on the natural curiosity of students, who will discover the fascinating attributes of the earth through geology, meteorology, oceanography, and astronomy. Other content areas include weather, rocks and minerals, and natural resources. Climate, energy in the atmosphere and oceans, and the solar system.
7th Grade Life Science provides students with an understanding of cells and cell systems, genetics and reproduction, ecosystems, and the fundamentals of organisms, energy, and matter. Students will build on basic principles through direct instruction and hands-on lab practicals, including dissections. Elements of STEM will play a critical role in student discovery and understanding of life science.
8th Grade Physical Science allows students to focus on measuring physical properties of matter, energy and thermal energy, force and motion, waves, and electromagnetic radiation. All will be explored through hands-on lab practicals as well as virtual simulations. Students will also delve in chemistry as they focus on the periodic table of elements, atomic structure, chemical equations, and chemical reactions. All elements of STEM will play a critical role in student discovery and understanding. The 8th grade science curriculum also includes and unit on human growth and development.
Minimum Requirements:
1 Bachelor’s degree in the field. Masters preferred.
- Minimum two years classroom experience in middle or high school grades.
- Successful completion of Florida Department of Law Enforcement background screening.
- Ability to differentiate classroom instruction based on student abilities.
- Ability to effectively communicate student progress to parents.
- Team player - - willingness to collaborate, share, and be flexible.
