The Institute for Natural Resources invites applications for a full-time (1.00 FTE), 12-month, fixed term Faculty Research Assistant: Rangeland Science and Technology position. Reappointment is at the discretion of the Department Head.
The Faculty Research Assistant in Rangeland Science and Technology Transfer will work with the The Institute for Natural Resources (INR) Rangeland Sustainability Program Manager and a wide range of partners throughout Oregon and the Western US to help bridge the gap between rangeland science and on-the-ground management.
The Research Assistant will bring a strong technical background, excellent collaborative and communication skills, and a creative and solutions-oriented mindset to increase the impact and relevance of science and technology in rangeland management.
Duties include; conducting applied research, developing and curating spatial datasets, producing technical support materials, serving as a technical expert in collaborative forums, developing and facilitating technical trainings and workshops, and working with stakeholder groups and local partners to apply technical tools in management applications.
This position will require independent analysis, teamwork and collaboration, and creative problem-solving, and will support the Oregon SageCon Partnership, Bureau of Land Management, and other partners throughout the state and region. This work will also involve grant writing to support INR's Rangeland Sustainability Program.
Requires Bachelor's degree in discipline appropriate to the field in which research is being conducted.
Requirements :
Masters or higher degree in ecology or related field.
At least 3 years of experience with spatial analyses and/or ecological modeling.
Strong background in rangeland science, ecology, and management.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a wide range of partners.
Ability to synthesize and integrate information into accessible formats for a wide range of technical and non-technical audiences.
Ability to work on multiple projects, manage time effectively and independently, and communicate progress and barriers with collaborators and supervisors.
Demonstrated ability to develop funding for research, design projects, and disseminate results.
This position requires driving a university vehicle or a personal vehicle on behalf of the university; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a motor vehicle history check, possess and maintain a current, valid driver's license in their state of residence, be determined to be position qualified and self-report convictions as per University Policy 05-030.

This position will largely be based in office settings but will require periodic travel.
