The Idyllwild Arts Academy provides pre-professional training in the arts and a comprehensive college preparatory curriculum to a diverse student body of gifted young artists from all over the world.
The Idyllwild Arts Summer Program provides arts instruction and experiences of the highest caliber to a diverse student population of all ages and abilities.
Idyllwild is a small town located at over 5,000 feet on the western slopes of California's San Jacinto Mountains. Even though it seems far from the hustle and bustle of city life, the town and campus frequently hosts music festivals, prominent speakers and artists, and community events. Also, it is only two hours by car to Los Angeles and San Diego.
OPPORTUNITY: Maintenance Technician II (HVAC Technician troubleshooting and repair)
LOCATION: Idyllwild, California
REPORTS TO: Maintenance Supervisor
Perform skilled maintenance, repair and construction of school buildings and equipment in one or more craft or trade; lead other Maintenance Workers and Technicians as necessary; work independently in trades such as hvac troubleshooting and repair, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, electronics, locksmithing a plus, and light vehicle maintenance/repair.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform a variety of skilled work in the maintenance and repair of school facilities and equipment; prioritize, schedule, assign and coordinate the work of assigned staff to accomplish a wide variety of duties related to the building trades.
Construct, rebuild and repair school equipment and facilities including various wood and metal structures, equipment and furniture; prepare surfaces for painting and varnishing and apply surface coverings as required.
Estimate cost of labor and materials for work orders; obtain competitive prices for equipment and supplies needed by the school.
Perform a variety of skilled building maintenance including repairs to doors, windows, and other building parts; construct or assemble furniture and other wood and metal structures; install and maintain grandmaster and electronic lock systems and electrical security systems.
Operate a variety of equipment and machines including saws, drill presses and various hand and power tools to perform repair and maintenance work; maintain tools and equipment in a safe, clean and proper working condition.
Assure compliance with appropriate safety practices and procedures and with applicable federal, State and local codes, regulations and requirements.
Maintain various records related to labor, materials and work orders.
Use our computer maintenance management system Asset Essentials for work orders and PM's.
Purchase tools, equipment and materials; operate light trucks to pick up and deliver equipment and supplies.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Snow removal with a truck plow if needed.
Maintain regular attendance.
KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of trade tools, equipment, materials, methods and techniques used in skilled and general maintenance and repair involving at least one of the following: electrical, electronics, heating and air conditioning, locksmithing, plumbing, carpentry, painting, vehicle maintenance/ repair or welding.
Appropriate health and safety precautions and procedures.
Technical aspects of the field of specialty.
Proper methods of storing equipment, materials and supplies.

Idyllwild Arts is a co-ed boarding and day school for 275 students in grades 9-12. The Summer Program, founded in 1950, is an eight-week program that brings more than nearly 2,000 children, teens, and adults to Idyllwild each summer. The Academy was established in1986 to extend the Summer Program's commitment to the arts through the only boarding high school for the arts on the west coast. The school has developed into an exceptional high school for pre-professional training in the arts combined with high academic standards and a residential life curriculum.Idyllwild graduates attend the top colleges and universities in the United States and abroad, and the very best conservatories and art schools, such as Julliard, Curtis, New England Conservatory of Music, and the Rhode Island School of Design. Many have established celebrated careers as artists. The arts disciplines include dance, music, visual arts, theatre, moving pictures and creative writing. Students may major in any one discipline or combine their interests in an interdisciplinary arts major.
