The Role: The are seeking a Director who will play a substantial role in overseeing, executing and refining the product roadmap for the S&P Global Commodity Insights Global Gas and LNG offering within the Product Management team. This includes the development of our digital product offerings using Agile methodology and the delivery of products that bring tangible value to our customers across our platform including - web, mobile apps and data feeds. The Global Gas and LNG continues to have profound implications for a large proportion all of S&P Global Commodity Insights clients as it remains very much part of the move to cleaner sources of power generation narrative as large corporations continue to evaluate best strategies as they seek to decarbonize their supply chains and the transportation sector continues its trend towards electrification. In this role you will work with different business functions such as sales, editorial, analytics and technology to refine and execute upon a customer-centric roadmap using the Agile/Scrum framework with a focus on the APAC region.
The Team: As part of the Gas, Power & Climate Solutions Product Management team you will manage the Global Gas and LNG product team and help drive alignment with stakeholders in analytics, news, technology, sales, marketing, operations, and the broader product management group.
The Opportunity: S&P Global Commodity Insights creates over 10,000 daily assessments used for 1,500+ cleared financial instruments that transact in excess of $10 billion every day. We stream over 20,000 bids, offers and trades a month from more than 450 of the top commodity trading companies globally. Furthermore, we create market moving news and insights every day. We serve a critical role by providing price transparency and market commentary to the global commodity markets.
S&P Global Commodity Insights has also embarked on an aggressive plan to expand its analytical insights offering via acquisitions over the past few years. The cumulative result is a deep bench of analysts around the world who deliver actionable insights to our clients on key Energy Transition topics.
Core Focus: Global Gas and LNG product development execution
Strategic Responsibilities: - Interact with existing clients and market participants in the globally to solicit product feedback and determine industry trends/pain points to refine a product roadmap to ensure client and market needs for future global gas and LNG content and tools are met
- Manage the Global Gas and LNG product team effectively ensuring optimal coordination and communication whilst providing overall strategic leadership and direction
- Work closely with the analytics team leads to help drive innovative design and technology solutions to deliver world class product offerings
- Ensure senior management are kept well informed and be prepared to discuss in detail the roadmaps from any of the product offerings covered under the role
Working Responsibilities: - Maintain oversight of the teams working responsibilities to ensure alignment across the various strategic initiatives and IMO synergies where relevant
- Ensure the team are writing effective user stories and acting as Product Owners where required to provide the business vision and direction to Agile development teams
- Ensure the priorities set by Analytics align across the product offerings including any strategic initiatives in the editorial pricing and news space.
- Ensure the team are maintaining and optimising go-to-market plans for product rollout/launches
- Maintain a strong working relationship with senior leadership across all stakeholders including frequent touchpoint to ensure we continue to identify opportunities and agree on sales plans
- Ensure Pragmatic Management best practices are rolled out across the team
- Work closely with all team members with weekly one to ones and dynamic Thrive priority setting techniques
- Provide coaching and be an effective leader for the team
- Engage and ensure the team are engaging with customers and analyse customer feedback and product usage in order to feedback implications to overall product roadmap
- Work closely with all stakeholders and commercial organisation
Qualifications: Being held accountable for execution, tangible deliverables and measurable success are common in your past. You are able to demonstrate experience of successful delivery on scope, in time, and on budget.
Core qualifications: - 5-10+ years product management experience preferably at a commodity information, utility, oil/gas, or financial technology company
- Strong customer mindset with demonstrated ability to engage directly and honestly with customers on all issues and deliver positive experience by creating a partnership mentality
- Proven track record of managing teams across regional timezones
- Proven track record of creating product roadmaps and executing against these roadmaps
- Strong presentation skills, entrepreneurial mindset
- Demonstrable experience with business change, designing and executing complex, business critical, processes into an established environment
- High technical literacy with real time delivery platforms and toolsets with understanding of core solution differences
- Experience with both Agile Scrum and Lean methodologies
Key qualifications: - Prioritisation and partnership management skills with ability to back decisions with conviction and data whilst balancing corporate needs of both us and our partners
- Diplomacy and tenacity when managing and communicating with stakeholders at all levels of business from Sales to Technology alongside a firm ability to assume positive intent
- Champion tangible delivery in order to get stuff done
Compensation/Benefits Information (US Applicants Only): S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $100,000 to $250,000 . Base salary ranges may vary by geographic location.
