Summary of Duties:The
Development Coordinator, Gift Planning is responsible for coordinating and implementing fundraising and donor-related activities for the Gift Planning team in support of Gift Planning's advancement goals and initiatives. This person will be the project manager for the Legacy Associates program, Gift Planning's partnership with WSUF's Call-a-Coug program, the Gift Planning Advisory Boards, and the Gift Acceptance Committee. They will serve as the departmental lead for internal and external communication, contributing to and overseeing the development of website content, marketing and informational materials to be distributed to internal stakeholders, as well as those going to current and prospective donors. They will research and prepare complex asset-based and life-income gift transmittals and external asset manager documents, requiring interaction with Advancement colleagues as well as financial and legal professionals. They will represent Gift Planning by serving as initial point of contact for the department as well as by serving on cross-functional project teams related to Advancement initiatives and comprehensive campaign.

Job Function: Project and Gift Management
Duties Performed- Using independent judgment, discretion, and specialized skills - design, manage, and administer custom programs such as Charitable Life Insurance, Legacy Associates, etc., as well as act as primary liaison to WSUF's Call-a-Coug program.
- Conceptualize, design, and communicate planned giving presentations and trainings.
- Working independently, coordinate the Gift Planning Advisory Boards and Gift Acceptance Committee by planning agendas, preparing meeting materials, and distributing relevant information, and serving as central point of contact for any inquiries related to the meetings before and after they are held.
- Serve as departmental lead for internal and external communication, including oversight of website, utilizing discretion and analysis to launch information, and implement changes and updates as needed.
- Research and prepare complex asset-based, life-income, and estate gift transmittals and external asset manager documents by utilizing specialized skills and knowledge, and by liaising as necessary with Advancement and Foundation colleagues for information.
- Act as project lead for a variety of ad hoc projects throughout the year related to donor stewardship and gift administration, creating protocols and procedures for increased departmental efficiencies.

Duties Performed- In partnership with the Senior Director, develop and distribute marketing and informational material to current and potential donors.
- Organize, oversee and evaluate annual and special Gift Planning events, assuring events adhere to applicable state and university regulations, policies, and guidelines.
- Represent Gift Planning at events sponsored by the Washington State University Foundation (WSUF) or by other Advancement units, colleges and campuses, as required.
- Conduct research to assist with prospect management and strategy.
- Assess and respond appropriately to planned giving and estate inquiries including direct written and phone contact with donors and advisors.

Job Function: Finance and Administration
Duties Performed- Oversee the planning and managing of the Gift Planning budget.
- Plan and supervise the work of student employees.
- Provide general support to the department and coordinate team travel.
- Represent Gift Planning Department by serving as the initial point of contact/serve as the liaison, with and between donor prospects, senior University/Advancement leaders, departments with the WSUF, Advancement colleagues, and professionals within WSU. Direct and coordinate appropriate departmental follow-up.

Duties Performed- Perform other similar duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:- A Bachelor's degree and two (2) years of experience, which includes six (6) months of full-time experience in marketing, gift solicitation or public contact work with evidence of ability to work collaboratively, communicate effectively orally and in writing and organize and execute assignments. A Master's degree in a relevant field may be substituted for up to one (1) year of the required experience. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.

Preferred Qualifications:- Gift planning, real estate, land management or estate planning experience
- Familiarity with fund development philosophy and practices
- Familiarity with Washington State University operations
- Experience working in a law office or for an Advancement office/department
