Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume): Bachelor's degree (foreign equivalent or higher) in Chemistry or Pharmacy or related. Two (2) years of full-time experience in related research/laboratory activities.
Preferred Qualifications: One (1) year of full-time experience with radiopharmaceutical development and formulation. Experience with synthetic organic chemistry. Experience with high-pressure liquid chromatography (HPLC). Experience with gas chromatography (GC). Experience with thin layer chromatography (TLC), SPE methods. Experience with gamma counting and multichannel analyzers (MCA). Experience with handling radioactivity and/or fundamental understanding of ionoizing radiation. Experience with computer software (i.e. Microsoft Office, Google Apps, etc.).
Brief Description of Duties: The Senior Research Support will be responsible for the cGMP production of radiopharmaceuticals for clinical research at Stony Brook University and their ex vivo analysis. The successful incumbent will have excellent written and verbal skills. Along with the ability to work under pressure and within tight deadlines.
Responsible for generating mass curves, performing routine HPLC, GC Analyses and quantitative endotoxin analyses.
Ensure compliance of FDA regulations to produce clinical cGMP grade human use radiopharmaceuticals.
Observe, collect and analyze data for In vitro radiopharmaceutical validation and ex vivo metabolite analysis. Write summary reports.
Develop, monitor and coordinate the production method for new carbon-11 and fluorine-18 and other radioisotopes labeled radiopharmaceuticals.
Assist with the routine management of two PET imaging research laboratories (Facility for Experimental Radiopharmaceutical Manufacturing (FERM) and PET ex vivo Radiometabolite Laboratory (PERL)) (such as ordering lab supplies, preventative maintenance of instrumentations, help to maintain lab as cGMP define clean level, design and implementation of a Quality Management System, etc.).
