Based in Pittsburgh or Houston, the responsibilities of this position include assessing steel markets, engaging with market participants who trade, consume, sell or are otherwise impacted by US steel markets and producing pricing content and analysis.
The Impact: The successful candidate will be part of a global team and possess knowledge of market intelligence-gathering and assessing commodities prices. This individual must be comfortable writing about pricing information and interpreting data. The finalist will be considered a subject matter expert in the industry; be able to master the challenges of covering metals markets on a frequent basis and be a team player. Furthermore, the successful candidate will understand the relationship between the physical and derivatives markets for metals.

The Team: The successful candidate will be part of a global team, based either virtually in the Pittsburgh area or the S&P Global office in Houston. What we're looking for: Knowledge of the Platts approach to pricing commodities and prior exposure to international financial and commodities markets are preferred qualities. Writing market analysis, producing graphics and publishing data explaining the trends driving prices and the reasons why we have assessed the price where we have is a part of the daily process. Communication with our metals teams in Asia and Europe is expected throughout each business day, as the regional markets are influenced and impacted by buying habits and price levels in other regions.
The individual will also manage and build our database of contacts and identify opportunities to improve our methodology or launch new assessments.
