The Board of Directors of City Light Gas and Water (CLGW) in Kennett, MO is seeking a strategic, results-focused leader with outstanding interpersonal communication skills to become their next Superintendent due to an upcoming retirement. The Kennett Board of Public Works has retained NRECA Executive Search to facilitate the search process.
With approximately 70 employees, CLGW is a municipal utility that provides the City of Kennett with electric, gas, water, sewer, and internet services. CLGW facilities and service systems include a 30-megawatt power plant, four electric substations, gas pipelines, a water production and wastewater treatment plant, and an expanding fiber optic communication system. CLGW provides services to approximately 6,000 residential and business customers and prides itself in having some of the lowest utility rates in the area.
Successful Superintendent candidates will have experience working in an electric distribution utility environment, preferably within the public power sector. They will have a strong safety focus, an engineering/operations understanding, demonstrated business acumen and the knowledge that they are working for the benefit of the organization and its consumers. An understanding of power supply is critical. Further understanding and experience in the water, sewer, gas, and internet services that CLGW provides will set you apart.
Industry knowledge and leadership, a high drive for action, team building experience, the ability to develop employees and to lead change will be strengths for the Superintendent. It is preferred that the Superintendent has experience in state, regional and/or national industry involvement or willing to be involved in industry organizations as needed. Collaboration and visibility within the community that CLGW serves is a must.
At least 5 years of overall leadership experience and 5 years of electric utility leadership is required. A bachelor’s degree is preferred with a preferred degree in business administration, electrical engineering, accounting and finance, or related degree. Strong candidates will have an advanced degree.
