The Senior PET Radiopharmaceutical Technician position is responsible for performing quality control analyses of clinical, investigational and developmental radiopharmaceuticals and supports clinical research development as needed. This position is well suited for an individual with a strong background in analytical analysis (i.e. HPLC, GC, TLC, and so on).
Job Location/Working Conditions
Normal laboratory environment. Exposure to radioactive compounds on a daily basis.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Prepares radiopharmaceuticals (RaPh) for clinical and research use following written SOPâ™s. Troubleshoots instrumentation for radiopharmaceutical production as required. Performs analytical analyses of final RaPh.
Performs chemical syntheses required for radiopharmaceutical research and development under supervision of research investigator.
Performs radiopharmaceutical quality control validation tests as required.
Maintains stock of distilled O-18 water for clinical/research use.
Orders necessary supplies and equipment in a timely and cost-efficient manner. Checks loading dock for incoming packages and appropriately receives incoming orders.
Operates a cyclotron to produce F-18 fluoride (morning shift 3:00 - 4:00 AM start).
Synthesizes FDG following GMP using established standard operating procedure.
Manufactures other radiopharmaceuticals as needed. Â
Bachelor's degree in science related area highly preferred.
Experience in analytical chemistry and working with radioactive compounds.
Pharmacy Technician Registration: to be registered after employment.
Knowledge of personal computers.
Attention to detail.
Ability to perform duties quickly and efficiently under time constraints.
Ability to use analytical equipment for example High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), Thin-Layer Chromatography (TLC) and Gas Chromatography (GC).
Willingness to be trained in the handling of radioactivity.
B.S. /B.A. in chemistry preferred or related science, equivalent experience in a lab or FDG manufacturing facility also acceptable.
$38,900.00 - $70,600.00 / AnnuallyThe salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
