The Impact You'll Make in this Role As an Advanced. EHS Engineer, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:
Providing leadership of site's hazardous waste disposal, including managing Waste Stream Profile System and coordination of transportation and disposal of wastes.
Leading efforts to maintain 3M Brownwood's Environmental Management System ISO 14001 certification.
Providing technical support for successful completion of the plant's EHS Management Plan.
Completing internal and external EHS compliance reports, analyze EHS data and report trends, recommend plans for correction of gaps and provide EHS input to address change (e.g., plant Management of Change processes).
Developing and presenting training packages.
Interaction, communication to establish and cultivate a network of support (facility, corporate EHS, other plant EHS).
Leading incident investigations impacting safety, health, and the environment.
Participating in and/or lead EHS audits and self-assessments.
Supporting site-wide EHS programs, systems, and processes.
Willingness to be on-call for emergencies.
Your Skills and Expertise To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
Bachelor's degree or higher in a science, engineering, or environmental health and safety (EHS) discipline from an accredited institution
Experience with Texas and federal regulations including (e.g, OSHA, EPA, TCEQ, etc)
Knowledge of Environmental Regulations and Requirements (Resource Conservation and Recovery Act/RCRA, Clean Air Act/Title V, Oil Pollution Control Act/SPCC, Clean Water Act/NPDES, etc.)
Previous experience in an industrial or manufacturing setting is highly desirable
Strong communications skills (oral, written and presentation)
Experience writing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
Experience with auditing to ISO standards
Data analysis, including ability to identify trends, and summarize conclusions
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with able to work closely with Plant Management, and Production employees
Self-directed able to work independently
Professional certification or willingness to obtain [e.g. Qualified Environmental Professional (QEP)-Institute of Professional Environmental Practice, Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM)-Institute of Hazardous Materials Management]
Microsoft Office proficient
Travel: May include up to 5% domestic/international
